Our potted history of the 100 year history of the Mentone Public Library has been launched and is now available for sale at the library. It’s called “When Books Were King” and it’s a wonderful walk-through the library in the context of the wider literary events that have shaped the last 100 years.
A collaborative effort, the book was written by three library members: Denise Tobin Shine, Elsie Johnstone, and President of the library Graeme Johnstone.
It not only details the 100 year history of the library but places it in the broader context of what was happening in books and literature at the time so it makes for a very interesting read.

Available on Amazon at this link here, or come into the library at our opening times and buy it for two-thirds of the price — and you might even catch one of the authors who can sign it for you! Also, the version you purchase at the library comes with this A4 limited edition commemorative pictorial supplement celebrating our 100 years.

All profits support the library. Remember you can also become a patron of our library and writers centre by making a donation.
